Over the centuries people have thought of different ways to memorialize those they have lost. Eterneva has taken that concept and moved it into the 21st century by creating a memorial that will last forever.
Eterneva was founded by Adelle Archer and Garrett Ozar stemming from a loss that hit Archer deeply. She lost her beloved mentor, Tracey, and was looking for a way to always remember, thus the company was born in 2016. Then in 2019 Archer appeared on the hit show Shark Tank and wound up with a $600,000 investment by serial entrepreneur, Mark Cuban, who retains that stake in the company. Learn more
The process, although technical, is pretty straightforward. Customers get a box with instructions on how to handle the process. The requirements are half a cup of ashes or a piece of hair in order for the company to create a diamond out of the carbon that is required. They offer the service for both human loved ones and also for beloved pets. To ensure the safe transport and security of the remains they partnered with FedEx.
Once they receive the package from the customer, the process begins. The carbon is extracted and used to form a unique lab-based diamond. The diamond can be colored and placed in a variety of settings including rings, necklaces, or other jewelry. The process of creating these diamonds takes anywhere from seven to nine months, and the family is kept in the loop through photos and videos.
Eterneva is partnering with funeral homes around the country to add their service options. To create a diamond for a loved one, customers can expect to spend between $2,999 all the way up to $50,000 depending on the carat, color, and setting they choose. They have served about 700 customers so far.
